Patio Chairs Metamorphosis

Some makeovers are pure genius. Like this pair of forlorn patio chairs that Jen at Fresh Crush transformed. Take a peek.

Patio Chairs Transformed into Fresh and Colorful Living Room Chairs

Is fan-tab-u-loso a word???

This project is a lesson in looking at a piece of furniture with the attitude of
‘What can it be?’ rather than focusing on ‘What is it?’

Jen looked beyond the patio persona, and made her chairs living-room worthy.

Reweaving a Chair SeatAnd many DIY’s hit a point where the perfect materials aren’t readily available, often causing a good-intentioned crafter to pause, and finish the project ‘some day.’ (Is this why our garages and sheds are full of ‘UFO’s’ – unfinished objects?)

“The most challenging was finding a material to do the re-weaving of the seat,” said Jen. “I would find so much info. on the Internet about ‘Shaker tape’. But there was none to be found in my neck of the woods. I even called a handful of upholsterers and they had no idea what I was talking about. Settling on the poly-canvas material from the fabric store worked just fine, and saved the day!”

Jen could’ve given up and found solace in a cup of chamomile tea and the remote control, but instead she tracked down a workable material to re-weave her seats – the key to this makeover.

I asked Jen what was the most fun about the project. She said, “The most fun — or, most satisfying, would be the better word, was the fact I was keeping these out of the landfill. I find a lot of value in re-using or up-cycling items.”
