Fresh Furniture Makeovers at Sparrow’s Nest

Keep your eyes on Nichole Loiacono-Young, her recently-launched Etsy shop, Sparrow’s Nest, and her blog by the same name. Nichole’s an aspiring designer with a great eye for giving new life to forlorn furniture and accessories.

Case in point? This cane-back Louis armchair that Nichole made fresh with gloss-white paint and Tiffany-blue flannel. A bit of a change from what she started with, yes? (And makes me crave jewelry.)

And peek at how different a matching chair turned out when Nichole bathed it in hi-gloss black paint and upholstered it with a black-and-grey damask fabric. Classy.

One more standout is this vintage two-level side table. We had some of these in my childhood home and I frequently see them at yard sales.

Nichole imparts a whole new feeling with her treatment including silver-and-black decorative-floral paper. The old and frumpy is fresh and new.

All pieces are for sale at Nichole’s Etsy store, as are some fantastic accessories she’s transformed.

I expect more fab pieces to come.

What’s your favorite of these made-over pieces?

The black chair is gorgeous! Great work.

Ahhh, thanks for the feature. That’s so fab! I appreciate all the kind words. Just what this girl needed!

I will definitely check out her Etsy store. I love the transformation of both chairs, but I really love the black hi-gloss one. Glad she was able to see beyond what the original chair presented.

That damask chair is SO pretty! I love it. I’ll be linking in my next Before and After Roundup. Off to check out her blog!

why did u call her “aspiring” that sounds condescending. these are really good and if she designed them then she IS a designer not an “aspring” designer.

Hi fjewio,

You are absolutely right. I wrote that awhile back and not sure now where the “aspiring” came from. Point well taken. Nicole designs and creates lovely things. I see she has a different blog address now too: http://www.parlourhomeblog.com/

Thanks again,
Kathy
