Paint by Numbers Rugs
Say goodbye to bland area rugs. Break out your paints and plan a custom shag from Home Decorators Collection. The Revolution Rugs are available in 20 graphic designs, 12 yarn colors, and 28 sizes from a narrow runner to a 12-foot square.
Choosing colors isn’t as simple as it should be. Home Decorator’s interface for the rugs shows only the design and separately the swatches (click on ‘Swatch View’), so you’ll want to low-tech-it to confidently plan your rug.
I say print out the graphic of the designs you like and have at it with your colors. Fill in all the A’s with one color, then the B’s and so-on. Have some coffee or some wine and have fun painting by number. (Note to Home Decorators: Add an interactive tool where we can choose and preview rug color combinations, and you’ll sell plenty of these puppies.)

Kathy, you’re definitely on my shortlist of people to check with if/when we ever offer the ability to custom-color our carpets. (We do custom-color on a regular basis, but we don’t have an easy way to allow clients to do their own mockups or renderings on our website.)
Our designs are a bit more complicated than these simple geometrics, but the issue of user-friendliness of the web interface is paramount. Thanks for a helpful user review of some of the issues.
